    British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) sets rules on how organizations collect, use and disclose personal information. Personal information is defined as any information that can be used to identify someone either by itself or in combination with other information.

    CanDo Canadian Immigration Services (we/us/our) is committed to being accountable for complying with PIPA and protecting the personal information we collect from individuals under appropriate and reasonable business purposes.


    We communicate our business purpose for personal information collection, and how the information will be used and disclosed, at or before the point of collection. Understanding what we do with your information ensures that you can provide us with meaningful consent through express, implied or “opt-in” consent.


    For business purposes we collect:

    • Employee information for hiring and managing;
    • Applicant information to assess if immigrants are eligible for:
      • visit, study, or work in Canada;
      • permanent residency;
      • citizenship; and
      • opening or purchasing a business in Canada to immigrate as an investor.
    • Client payments;
    • Contact information for responding to emails and phone calls; and,
    • Subscriber information for sending promotions, news and updates about immigration to Canada.

    We collect the minimum amount of personal information required for business purposes. Examples of the types of information we collect include:

    • Employee applicants: resumé; and, references
    • Employees: employee contract; banking information; employee benefits; and, emergency contacts.
    • Student applicants (online pre-assessment form):
      • Mandatory:
        • First name; last name; email address; marital status; date of birth; country of citizenship; current country of residence; How did you hear about us? (Google, Instagram, LinkedIn, Friends, Family, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, International Representative/Agent, Website, TikTok); funds you have available to study in Canada;highest level of education; level of English; applied before for a Canadian visa?; and, preferred destination in Canada?
      • Optional:
        • Salutation (Mr., Mrs. etc.); middle name; company name; street address; country; city; province/region; zip/postal code; address type; and, telephone number.
    • Immigrant applicants (online pre-assessment form):
      • Mandatory:
        • First name; last name; email address; marital status; number of children; date of birth; country of citizenship; current country of residence; How did you hear about us? (Google, Instagram, LinkedIn, Friends, Family, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, International Representative/ Agent, Website, TikTok); area of interest (study in Canada, work in Canada, invest in Canada, visit Canada, apply for permanent residency, extend your stay in Canada, other); net worth; highest level of education; level of English; main occupation/job title and details; family relations in Canada; immigration to Canada (you or spouse/partner: been to Canada; previously applied for a visa/permit to Canada; previously submitted an application for Canadian permanent residency; and, nomination certificate from a Canadian Province (except Quebec)?); and, preferred destination in Canada.
      • Optional:
        • Salutation (Mr., Mrs. etc.); middle name; company name; street address, country; city; province/region; zip/postal code; address type; telephone number; further information; and, resumé.
    • Subscribers: First name; last name; and, email address
    • Email sent to us through the Contact us link on the website: First and last name; email address; country of citizenship; and, Are you in Canada?
    • Email received through the website to First and last name; and, email address.
    • Phone messages: Name; and, telephone number.
    • In-person meetings with leads and clients: passport verification for citizenship and travel history; education credentials, documents related to previous application(s) to Canada, and, resumé.

    In situations where we need additional personal information, we will ask you for the minimum amount of information needed, secure it within our systems and disclose it only with your consent.

    Limited use and disclosure

    We only collect personal information for identified purposes of collection and do not rent, sell or trade any personal information collected from you with any third parties without your consent.

    However, we may be required by law or authorized by PIPA to disclose the information that you provided.

    Protection and storage of personal information

    We use a combination of administrative, physical and technical safeguards to reduce the risk of loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure and alteration of your personal information. Personal information is processed and stored in Canada and the United States.


    PIPA requires us to retain personal information used to make a decision about individuals for at least one year, after which it is no longer necessary to fulfill the collected purpose. Under set time periods for legal and business purposes, we retain personal information until after the appropriate time periods pass, and then we destroy the information in a secure fashion.

    Your privacy rights and how we support them

    By submitting a written request to our Privacy Officer, you can

    • withdraw consent with reasonable notice;
    • access your personal information that we hold;
    • update your personal information for accuracy and completeness; and,
    • ask us to process your personal information using an alternative method

    Please note that we require proof of identity to fulfill privacy rights requests and that consent cannot be withdrawn retroactively.

    If personal information is disclosed to these third parties, we ensure that appropriate security undertakings, such as confidentiality clauses in contractual agreements, are employed to protect the transfer and use of personal information.


    Cookies are small files that websites send to your device to store information about you, within your own internet browser. They typically contain information about your browsing activity and personalize your experience for authentication and certification purposes.

    First-party cookies set by Webware track user logged-in status and referrer information.

    Third-party cookies used on the website include google analytics google tag manager and Tidio chat.

    Throughout our website, we provide links to a wide variety of third-party websites, which use their own cookies to collect user information when you are on their websites. This includes interactive links to sites like Clio, Twitter, Facebook, Linked In, YouTube and Instagram.

    We are not responsible for, and do not have any control over, the privacy practices or the content of third parties. We encourage users to read the privacy policies of any website visited.

    Not satisfied with our response and wish to challenge our compliance?

    Under PIPA, we are obligated to respond within thirty (30) days of receiving your privacy request, question, concern or complaint.

    If you have not heard from us during this timeframe or you are unsatisfied with our response within thirty (30) days of receiving it, you may contact the Office of the Information & Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (OIPC) to make a complaint.
