What are the federal requirements for the Rural and Northern Pilot Program?
There are several eligibility requirements that skilled foreign workers need to meet for the rural community immigration pilot:
- Work Experience: Applicants must prove at least one year of paid work experience within the last three years, totaling 1,560 hours, which can be part-time or full-time, inside or outside Canada.
- International Students: Graduates from Canadian public post-secondary institutions in the community are exempt from the work experience requirement if they meet certain criteria, such as completing a two-year program or obtaining a master’s degree.
- Job Offer: Applicants need a genuine job offer from a local employer that is full-time, non-seasonal, and aligns with their work experience and the same occupation level.
- Language Requirements: Proof of language proficiency based on the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill type related to the job position.
- Educational Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with foreign credentials needing an educational credential assessment (ECA).
- Financial Resources: Proof of sufficient funds to support the applicant and their family members during settlement is necessary.
