Description

Yukon is one of Canada's three territories. The federal government has more control over territories than it does over the provinces. A large majority of the territory's population is concentrated in Whitehorse, a young, dynamic and vibrant northern city. Resources are the primary industry in the Yukon, in fact the Yukon primarily owes its existence to the Klondike gold rush of the 1890's and the population in 2001 is about the same as the population was in 1901. Summer in the Yukon is surprisingly warm, and made all the more enjoyable by almost 24 hours of daylight a day. On the other hand, winter time is quite cold, and the sun only peaks up for an hour or so each day.
