The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) is an immigration program which directly seeks to attract qualified immigrants to work in Newfoundland and Labrador which includes the city of St. John’s.
The Newfoundland and Labrador PNP accepts applications from workers who can make a positive contribution based on certain selection criteria such as employment, language skills and adaptability. Successful candidates are presented with a work permit, and are eligible to apply for a permanent resident visa through CIC as a Provincial Nominee together with their spouse and dependent children. Under the Newfoundland and Labrador Nominee Program (NBPNP), you may qualify under one of four categories: NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR PNP OCCUPATIONAL/SKILLED WORKER To qualify, the applicant must offer:
score at least 50 points on a Self-Assessment (occupation, arranged employment, experience, education, adaptability, spousal employment, age, language ability, financial resources), Have a permanent; full time job offer in Newfoundland or Labrador which requires specialized skills that could not otherwise be found in a Canadian or Permanent Resident Worker. Is within but not limited to the province's Strategic Sector list, including knowledge-based industries, manufacturing, natural resources, agriculture and agrifoods, health care, tourism, fishing, and cultural industries, Is consistent with provincial employment and wage standards.
Skilled Worker applicants may also be required to visit Newfoundland and Labrador for an interview with the employer and with the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development.
NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR PNP FAMILY CONNECTIONS Residents of the province for at least one year can sponsor family members from abroad who want to reside and work in Newfoundland and Labrador .
To qualify, applicants must:
Have the intention to reside in Newfoundland and Labrador. Be between 18 - 49 years old; Have $10,000 for you and $2,000 for each accompanying family member10. Have a family member in Newfoundland or Labrador who is willing to provide settlement assistance and sign an Affidavit of Support. Have completed post-secondary education, training, or apprenticeship of at least one year in length that has resulted in a diploma, a certificate or a degree; Have at least one year of work experience; Have a full-time, permanent job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador Employer; OR Intend to find full-time, permanent work in Newfoundland and Labrador . Have verified English language ability either for the position offered by a Newfoundland and Labrador employer, or to get a job in your field of education or training;
NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR PNP INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE To qualify as an international graduate, applicants must:
Have graduated, from a minimum two year program within the last two years, Have graduated from a recognized Newfoundland and Labrador post-secondary institution. Have the necessary qualifications, and a permanent full-time job offer in your field of study, from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer Have obtained a Citizenship and Immigration Canada post-graduation work permit; Can demonstrate the intention and ability to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador ; Have a job or job offer that has compensation in the form of a salary and benefits package that meets provincial employment standards and prevailing wage rates; Can demonstrate that you have sufficient funds and financial resources to successfully establish yourself and any dependents in Newfoundland and Labrador ; Have the necessary qualifications in English or French to perform the employment duties. Your English language ability must be verified
NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR PNP IMMIGRANT ENTREPRENEUR To qualify for the Immigrant Entrepreneur Category, the applicant must:
Establish or purchase a business that is within the province's Strategic Sector list, This includes: Knowledge-based industries
biotechnology environmental industries aerospace information technology research and development science and technology Manufacturing Natural Resources oil and gas mining Agricultural and Agrifoods value-added enterprises expansions Healthcare Tourism winter/adventure and eco- tourism operations Creative and Cultural Industries Fisheries valued-added enterprises aquaculture
Applicants must also:
Have a minimum of five years of senior management or entrepreneurial experience in a similar business to the one proposed; Have a minimum net worth of CDN $450,000, of which at least CDN $350,000 should be in liquid assets; Be prepared to sign a Performance Agreement with the province promising a minimum business investment of CDN $200,000 to establish a new business or purchase all or part of an existing business; Be prepared to make a CDN $100,000 deposit that will be returned once the obligations of the performance agreement has been met; and Be willing to make an exploratory visit to Newfoundland and Labrador before completing the application, and submit a detailed business plan.To qualify for the Immigrant Entrepreneur Category, the applicant must establish or purchase a business that is within the province's Strategic Sector list, including knowledge-based industries, manufacturing, natural resources, agriculture and agrifoods, health care, tourism, fishing, and cultural industries, although employment in other industries may also be valid. In addition, the applicant must score at least 50 points on a Self-Assessment (proposed business, work experience, business experience, education, adaptability, age, language ability, financial resources). Applicants must also:
Have a minimum of five years of senior management or entrepreneurial experience in a business similar to the one proposed; Have a minimum net worth of CDN $450,000, of which at least CDN $350,000 should be in liquid assets; Be prepared to sign a Performance Agreement promising a minimum business investment of CDN $200,000 to establish a new business or purchase all or part of an existing business; Be prepared to make a CDN $100,000 deposit that will be returned once the obligations of the performance agreement has been met; and Prior to the completion of the application, be willing to make an exploratory visit to Newfoundland and Labrador at the applicant's expense, and submit a detailed business plan.
