Nova Scotia PNP

The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) is an immigration program which seeks to attract qualified immigrants to work in the province of Nova Scotia which includes the city of Halifax.

 

 

 

 

 

The Nova Scotia NSNP accepts applications from workers who can make a positive contribution to Nova Scotia 's economy and society.

 

The NSNP chooses individuals based on certain selection criteria such as employment, language skills and adaptability.

 

Successful candidates are presented with a work permit, and are eligible to apply for a permanent resident visa through CIC as a Provincial Nominee together with their spouse and dependent children.

 

Under the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (PNP), you may qualify under one of three categories:

NOVA SCOTIA PNP SKILLED WORKER STREAM


This stream is employer driven. The NSNP Skilled Worker stream helps employers hire workers whose skills may be in limited supply in the province.


To qualify, the employer must:

  • make a genuine effort to hire qualified Canadian citizens or permanent residents and be unable to find workers
  • offers regular wages and working conditions for that occupational field;
  • demonstrate that they will provide additional supports to assist newcomers with their settlement needs
  • have an acceptable strategy to recruit and retain immigrant workers in Nova Scotia


The applicant must:

  • have an offer for permanent, full-time employment;
  • Basic literacy in English; and
  • Minimum of Nova Scotia grade 12 or equivalent years of schooling.


NOVA SCOTIA PNP FAMILY BUSINESS WORKER STREAM


To qualify the worker must:

  • Have a guaranteed, permanent full time job offer in Nova Scotia from an employer who is a close relative and who owns an established business in Nova Scotia.
    • The job offer must provide compensation in the form of salary and benefits package that meets provincial employment standards and prevailing wage rates
    • priority will be awarded to positions with minimum salary in excess of $10.00/hour or a minimum annual wage in excess of $20,000 Canadian dollars
  • Have legal status in his/her country of residence
  • Have sufficient settlement supports
  • Have the qualifications, training or, work experience, for the job.
  • Meet the minimum criteria for age, education, work experience, and language ability requirements for this stream.

    *Priority will be given to workers whose family employer can demonstrate that they will provide additional supports.

 

NOVA SCOTIA PNP COMMUNITY IDENTIFIED STREAM


This stream is community-driven. It is for individuals who are employable, have strong established connections to a Nova Scotia community, and can contribute to the labour market and economy of that community.

  • The applicant must have a Letter of Identification from an organization mandated by the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration


To be eligible to apply to this category, the Community Identified candidate must:

  • not be eligible for any other NSNP streams
  • have legal status in his/her country of residence
  • have sufficient settlement supports
  • be employable i.e. have skills, training and work experience for future employment in a field or sector required by that community
  • meet the minimum criteria for age, education and language ability requirements for this stream

 

NOVA SCOTIA PNP INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE STREAM


This stream helps employers hire and retain recent international graduates whose skills may be in limited supply in the province.

To qualify the graduate must:

  • have successfully completed a degree or diploma program within the last two years from a recognized Nova Scotia post-secondary institution
  • Have a permanent, full-time job offer from an employer in Nova Scotia in their field of study and have been working for at least three months in this position.
  • have legal status in Canada on a temporary work permit
  • have sufficient financial supports
  • Meet the minimum requirements for age, education, work experience, and language ability for this stream.
  • Note: Priority will be awarded to applicant in positions with minimum salary in excess of $10.00/hour or a minimum annual wage in excess of $20,000 Canadian dollars.


NOVA SCOTIA PNP ECONOMIC STREAM

 

Nova Scotia is not accepting any applications under the Economic Stream until it is redesigned.
