The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program ( PEI PNP) is an immigration program which directly seeks to attract qualified immigrants to work in PEI which includes the city of Charlottetown.

 

 

 

 

The Prince Edward Island PNP accepts applications from workers who can make a positive contribution based on certain selection criteria such as employment, language skills and adaptability.

 

Successful candidates are presented with a work permit, and are eligible to apply for a permanent resident visa through CIC as a Provincial Nominee together with their spouse and dependent children.

 

Under the Prince Edward Island Nominee Program (PEI PNP), you may qualify under one of four categories:

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND PNP SKILLED WORKER


To qualify, an applicant must have:

  • Scored at lease 50 points on the PEI PNP Self-Assessment form;
  • A permanent full time job offer; from an island employer
  • Education and training consistent with the position offered;
  • A command of the English and French language if required for the position; and
  • The intention to settle in Prince Edward Island.

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND PNP IMMIGRANT ENTREPRENEUR


To qualify in the Immigrant Entrepreneur category, an applicant must:

  • Have a minimum net worth of CDN $400,000;
  • Submit a business plan and demonstrate that the Immigrant Entrepreneur has the experience and capability to establish a successful business in the Prince Edward Island business environment.
  • Invest at least CDN $200,000 to establish a new business or to purchase an existing business (at least 1/3 ownership);
  • A payment of CDN $100,000, which is held in escrow and returned to the Nominee after one year's residency and the establishment of the business;
  • Deposit CDN $25,000 in good faith that is refunded after applicant has resided in PEI for one year;
  • Immigrant Entrepreneurs (Partners) whose capacity in English or French is insufficient to be interviewed in that language are required to place $20,000 in escrow with the Government of PEI. This language deposit will be returned, should the applicant demonstrate moderate language skills, in English or French, after arrival in PEI.
  • Age, education, language requirements and transferrable management skills. The ideal candidate to the PEI PNP is/has:
    • less than 55 years of age;
    • a minimum 14 years of education, including one (or more) post-secondary certificates or degrees;
    • be able to be interviewed in English or French;
    • Several years of management (or, preferably, business ownership) experience in a sector with relevance to the PEI economy.

 

Prince Edward Island PNP Immigrant Partner


The Immigrant Partner Category is for potential immigrants who will make an investment in a Prince Edward Island company and take an active role in the proposed company. That role may be either as a director or as a senior manager defined at (NOC level O).

  • Have a minimum net worth of CDN $400,000;
  • Make a CDN $200,000 investment in an eligible PEI company
  • Deposit CDN $25,000 in good faith that is refunded after applicant has resided in PEI for one year;
  • Applicant’s whose capacity in English or French is insufficient for an interview are required to place $20,000 in escrow with the Government of PEI. This language deposit will be returned, should the applicant demonstrate moderate language skills, in English or French, after arrival in PEI .
  • Meet at least some of the following criteria:
    • Be between 21 and 49 years of age;
    • Have a minimum 12 years of education (high school);
    • Be capable of being interviewed in English or French; and
    • Have at least 5 years of management or business ownership experience in a sector relevant to the PEI economy.


Prince Edward Island PNP Immigrant Connections


Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents living in PEI can request to nominate their close family members for Canadian Permanent Residency. To make such a recommendation, PEI residents must meet the criteria of a "Champion".


To qualify as a Champion, an individual must:

  • Be a Canadian Permanent Resident or citizen
  • Have lived in PEI for more than two years
  • Have a regular source of income sufficient for their needs and the needs of their dependents; and
  • Have a clear criminal and personal record


To be recommended by a Champion, applicants must:

  • Have the intention of living in PEI ;
  • Prove that they are an eligible family member of the Champion, (parent or grandparent, child or grandchild, sibling, cousin, niece or nephew, aunt or uncle);
  • Have an offer of employment or, in the view of the Province, a capacity to work in PEI ; and
  • Be in good health with no criminal record.
