Skilled WorkersThe Federal Skilled Workers Program gives selected applicants the opportunity to become permanent residents based on their ability to establish themselves in Canada in an economically beneficial way.

 


 

 


This process can be lengthy and complex. We are here to help make it as easy as possible for you. Let’s begin.

 

STEP 1 To apply as a Skilled Worker you must have:

 

  • A valid offer of permanent full-time employment from a current or prospective employer, OR
  • Already been living in Canada for one year as a Temporary Foreign Worker, OR
  • Be a skilled worker with at least one year of experience in one or more of a certain set of occupations.(National Occupational Classification, skill level O,A,B).

 

STEP 2 If you are eligible to apply as a Skilled Worker, you must also meet the minimum requirements to further qualify:


  • you must have at least one year of continuous full-time paid work experience or the equivalent in part-time continuous employment, AND
  • your work experience must be managerial, professional, or technical and fall within certain categories under the Canadian National Occupational Classification list, AND
  • This experience must have occurred within the last 10 years.

 

STEP 3 You must also show that you have enough money to support yourself and your dependants after you arrive in Canada.

STEP 4 If you meet the above requirements, you will then be evaluated according to six selection criteria:

 

  • your education up to 25 points
 up to 25 points
  • your abilities in English and/or French
 up to 24 points
  • your work experience
 up to 21 points
  • your age
 up to 10 points
  • Arranged Employment in Canada (as above)
 up to 10 points
  • your adaptability
 up to 10 points

 

Total possible 100 points

Pass mark 67 points
