QUÉBEC-SELECTED SKILLED WORKER CATEGORY

There are two stages involved in the skilled worker immigration:

1)      Application to obtain a Certificate of Selection (Certificat de sélection du Québec): The applicant must obtain a document that indicates that the Government of Québec has accepted him/her to the province.

2)      Application for Permanent Residence: Once an applicant has been selected by the province of Québec, a separate application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) must be made to request permanent residence.

Under the Québec Skilled Worker category, it is important to show that the applicant has enough money to support himself and his/her family after arriving in Canada.

The Québec-selected skilled workers are not assessed on the six selection factors of the Federal Skilled Workers Program, instead the following factors are considered:

Training

Do you have a Québec Diploma?	Up to 6 points
Which are your areas of Training	Up to 16 points
TOTAL	Up to 29 points

 

Validated Employment Offer

Do you have an employment offer in Montreal	Up to 6 points
Do you have an employment offer outside the metropolitan area of Montreal?	Up to 10 points

Work experience

Up to 8 points can be obtained in this subcategory

Age

Up to 16 points can be obtained in this subcategory

Language

Stays in Québec: This refers to the amount of time previously spend in Québec; whether it was to study, work, visit or do business.	Up to 5 points
