Provincial Nominee Programs

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) provides an accelerated process for skilled and/or experienced workers, experienced business persons and their family members who want to settle permanently in a particular province of Canada. If you choose to immigrate to Canada as a provincial nominee, you must first apply to the province where you wish to settle and complete its provincial nomination process. Nominees are then able to apply for Permanent Resident status through Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). The PNP is faster than applying through many federal immigration streams. Each province selects applicants on the basis of their education and work experience in accordance to the province's skill needs and requirements.

The British Columbia (BC) Specialized Business Immigration Programs

The BC PNP provides an accelerated process for skilled and/or experienced workers, experienced business persons, and their family members who want to settle in the province of BC permanently. It allows nominees to apply for Permanent Resident status through Citizenship and Immigration Canada under the fast-tracked provincial nominee stream - which can be faster than applying through many federal immigration programs.

If you choose to immigrate to British Columbia as a provincial nominee, the requirements you must meet and the application forms you use vary according to which component of the BC PNP you are applying under: Strategic Occupations or Business Immigrants.

Strategic Occupations

Skilled Workers
Managers, professionals, technologists and technicians, skilled trades

International Graduates
Recent graduates of recognized Canadian post-secondary institutions

International Post-Graduates Pilot Project
Recent BC masters and doctorate graduates in natural, applied and health sciences

Designated Health Professionals
Registered nurses, midwives, registered psychiatric nurses, and physicians

Entry Level and Semi-Skilled
Select occupations in tourism/hospitality and food processing, and long-haul trucking.

Business Categories

The BC PNP provides opportunities for business immigration in three categories:

Semi-Skilled Workers
Some provinces, such as Albert and British Columbia, offer nomination to workers under the semi-skilled category. These opportunities include long haul truck drivers, food counter attendants, guest services attendants, hotel front desk clerks, etc. Requirements and eligibility for each occupation and province may vary.

Business Skills Program
This program is intended for individuals planning to set up their business in the Metro Vancouver or the Abbotsford regions. Minimum net worth and investment requirements apply.

Regional Business Program
This program is intended for individuals planning to set up their business in British Columbia but do not meet the high net worth requirements of the Business Skills Program. Under the Regional Program, the individual is allowed to establish a business anywhere in the province outside the Greater Vancouver and Abbotsford regions.

If you already have a job offer from an employer within your preferred province, CanDo Immigration Services can act as your immigration representatives to process your nomination and permanent residence application by liaison with your prospective employer to ensure compliance with program requirements.
